Murray Downs Resort
It rained for most of the evening and was still intermittent when we woke this morning. Fingers are crossed, but golf is now only a 50/50 chance.
We appear to be the one of the few people here this morning
Not much interest in the pool either, possibly because it is 8 C outside
Still not really sure if we will play golf, we decide to drive into town to have a look around to fill in time. Swan Hill is quite a scenic little town located on the banks of the Murray River with all of the tourist attractions the river brings.
The Giant Murray Cod is a feature near the Railway Station and Tourist Info Centre
The rain stopped at around 9.45 am, so golf was back on as a real possibility, but we still had plenty of time to take a wander around the town.
The Single Lane bridge across the Murray to cross the Murray River
Murray Downs Resort is actually in NSW, so we had to cross this bridge to enter Victoria and the township of Swan Hill. Just on the Victorian side of the bridge is the large brick water tower (below) that was built in 1885 to supply the town with reticulated water.
It was time to head back to the resort as we have decided to play golf as the rain seems to have moved on. There are are a surprising number of like minded people and there are quite a few on the course. We hit off on time and had a good run in a cart, completing the course in a little over 3 hours. Carole had an outstanding game, mine was just average. It is a great golf course and in excellent condition. Apparently the NSW Open will be played here soon.
A few shots of the course (and looming clouds)
We had another nice dinner, washed down with a surprisingly good and well priced local wine at the Resort Club. We will head off to Loxton in SA tomorrow morning.
